August Wren (Jennifer Orkin Lewis) Painting with Gouache

We're so excited to announce this RARE & FIRST TIME OPPORTUNTIY to LEARN FROM AND PAINT at a retreat WITH AUGUST WREN!!

Jennifer Orkin Lewis is the artist behind August Wren Art. With over 127,000 instagram followers and a new book out Draw Every Day, Draw Every Way, Jennifer Orkin Lewis has become a widely know and well loved Illustrator & Author. While her art has been licensed many many times,  Jennifer's beautiful Dahlias were most recently featured on Kate Spade's Spring 2017 Stationery and Accessory line and you can also find some of her illustrations adorning the pottery at Anthropologie. 

This September join the talented and well known and loved Illustrator & Author Jennifer Orkin Lewis (August Wren) in New York at a beautiful estate on the water as she inspires our creativity by teaching us how to paint with gouache. 

Daily Drawing and painting sessions will include learning about mixing colors with gouache, playing with lines, textures, layering patterns, composition and color combination.  You will work on your own individual art and there will also be some time dedicated to collaboration. 

Jennifer will share with you some insight on how to approach getting your art licensed & a peek into the the world of design with plenty of time for questions and answers.

Location:

The retreat is located on the North Fork of Long Island, New York. It's filled with beautiful vineyards, lavender fields, wildlife and beaches. It's laid back and down to earth "crunchiness" may be the reason why many call it " The UnHamptons." All of the painting and meals will take place at North Sea House, a beautiful newly built estate right by the sea. If you choose to lodge there you will be oh so comfortable... the pool, hot tub and beach for all retreat takers to enjoy. Ahhhh.... I wish I was there now... soaking my toes :) North Sea House is steps from the beach with a salt water pool, hot tub and decks that wrap around the property- perfect for sunsets with a glass of wine and fellow artist friends.

Please note: There are just 16 total participant spots available for this retreat. We have enough room for most participants to stay on-site at an additional cost. The remaining may obtain lodging at one of the many nearby hotels or a couple of other homes we have access to. Onsite lodging will fill up fast so please reserve soon. We recommend reserving your room for the night before the retreat begins. 

During our time together we will paint, play and be inspired. Our nourishing and safe space will allow for deep connection with each other and with ourselves.

Getting to the Retreat:

The closest airport is Islip (although flights are not as frequent there). Most of you will probably fly into JFK or Laguardia. You can rent a car and/or share rides/carpool. If you do not want to rent a car, the Hampton Jitney is a wonderful way to get from either of the above mentioned airports to the town where the retreat is being held. Let us know what your arrival time is and we will pick you up from the Jitney stop and bring you to the Retreat House only 5 minutes away. It's super convenient. 

Meals: 

Please let us know of any food allergies and dietary needs. Let us know of any concerns and we will do the best to accommodate you wherever possible. 

Painting with Gouache with August Wren is $1100 (Sign up by August 15th for $1000- $100 savings)

Cancellation Policy: 

Cancellations less than 3 months before the workshop or retreat are non refundable. Due to the intimate size of our retreats, cancellations before then are only refunded if you find someone fill your place.
